Tools for a Green Land Development Program

This publication is aimed at local professionals who want to incorporate the practices of ecological development of the land in their work. Part of the guide contains a brief description of the green land development and information on how to create a local development program of green land. The second part of the guide lists the principles of green land development and provides a brief explanation of each principle. Developers can use the second part to identify ways in which their businesses can be more resource efficient and save money. Local government officials are the principles beneficial as they review local regulations such as zoning ordinances, street standards, and ordinances for stormwater management that govern land development. The appendices provide sample green checklist of urbanization.

Green Tools for Teachers

Today, most children know they have to buckle up, but it was not long ago that the safety of seat belts was a new concept in school. The children learn in the classroom gives them the basis on which to live long and meaningful life. Education is what allows them to make informed decisions about what to eat, the type of people and companies that provide support and the kind of community we want to create and live in We can not begin to change the world unless we invest in young people and show them the path. There are a number of nonprofit organizations and educational institutions that are helping to incorporate 'green' in the lesson plans. A new effort is the "Climate Change Backpack. This tool was designed for educators working with Clean Air-Cool Planet, a New Hampshire-based nonprofit dedicated to finding and promoting solutions to global warming. The backpacks are filled with exhibits and ideas for group activities and experiments. With funding from PSEG, the plan been studied NJ-specific and are available to specially trained educators Garden State this spring.
